For this project you will need:
Wired Burlap Ribbon, 4″ – I got mine at Michael’s, it’s $9.99 for a 7 yd roll. (Don’t forget your coupon) I don’t think I even used a full yard for one flower so one roll should make at least 7 flowers. It comes in many colors too so just think of the fun you could have?
Start out by folding the ribbon in half so that the wired sides are together.
Then fold the end down so it lines up with the bottom to hide the raw edge.
Then start rolling the bottom of the ribbon in tightly to make your center.
With your yarn needle and twine sew through the center a couple times to secure it.
Then sew back and forth a couple inches across the bottom to create a gather.
Tighten the gather and sew a stitch back into the center to pull it together.
Keep sewing back and forth, tightening and then stitching back to the center to create the ruffled look of flower petals.
Continue going around until your flower has reached its desired size.
Cut the end and fold in the raw edge just like we did in the center, tucking in the raw edge as you sew along to hide it.
Knot your ends and weave them in before cutting them off or use the twine ends to attach the flower to your craft project. Enjoy!
