Hello, my name is Renee Corbin and welcome to HOT GLUE AND GLITTER. Here you will find a combination of Crochet, Arts, Crafts and Design projects that I am happy to share with you. I offer free and paid Crochet patterns, step-by-step Craft tutorials, as well as project ideas with detailed pictures and the occasional recipe – since I also love to cook and eat. I have been obsessed with making things with my hands ever since I was a child sitting on the floor in my Mother’s sewing room hand sewing clothes for my dolls. I pride myself in figuring out how to create new projects, designs and ideas. I am also very good at burning myself with my hot glue gun. I have always owned a sewing machine and over the years have acquired an abundance of craft supplies and yarn scattered throughout the house. Being constantly creative is a way of life for me and it keeps me a happy and seemingly sane member of society. I have only been blogging for about 6 months so I’m still adding more content and trying to figure out how this blogging thing works.
Crochet is one of my favorite hobbies. I’ve been doing it over 25 years, ever since my Mother taught me when I was a little girl. I am also a Certified Instructor at Michael’s Arts and Crafts, certified by the The Craft Yarn Council. I love crochet because all it mainly requires is some yarn and a hook. You will need scissors and a yarn needle eventually, but we’ll get to that. Crochet is also unique in the fact that it cannot be replicated by a machine. Anything created by a machine is not crochet, that’s knitting. Therefore, anything that is truly considered Crochet was actually made by someone who sat down and created something special with their own two hands. I get very excited when new people are interested in learning to crochet so I encourage you to share pictures of your finished projects, especially if you used one of my patterns.
Interior and Floral Design are other important passions of mine. I graduated college in 2005 with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Interior Design with a concentration in Architectural Visualization and Color Theory. I worked as a professional Interior Designer for 5 years after college and during that time I married my husband in 2007, and got pregnant with our son in 2009. Our adorable little boy was born two months premature, but now he is a healthy 6 year old who definitely keeps my husband and I on our toes.
I grew up in Colorado, but a couple years after my son was born we decided to move to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, so I traded one mountain range for another. I don’t think I could live without the mountains surrounding me. We have a forest for a backyard and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hope that you find something on my site that inspires you and excites you to make and create. I love DIY and trying new things! I encourage you to recreate any projects you see on my site. If you wish to sell items made from my crochet patterns and tutorials you are more then welcome to do so! However, selling or reproducing the written pattern is not permitted. Using my pictures may be allowed but I ask that you include a link to the pattern with credit for the design – on the online listing if selling online, or on the tag if selling at a craft fair or in a shop. Thank you so much, I hope to hear from you soon!
Special thanks to Sabrina L. Greene Photography for her beautiful photographs
